In what has been a mediocre year for the St. Louis Cardinals, one man has risen from the depths and became a bright spot for this ball club. That man is outfielder Tommy Pham.
Pham has worked his way into being the centerpiece of the Cardinals this year with his defense and exceptional hitting. Pham is currently batting .304 with 17 homers and 55 RBI. Those numbers do not tell the whole story as he has won many games for the Cardinals off of clutch hits.
Pham’s clutch hitting came into being a factor once again last night against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Cardinals who are desperate for any win they can get were fighting for a win last night as the game was tied 4-4 in the bottom of the ninth. Pham stepped to the plate with a man on first and no one out and put one of the centerfield wall to walk it off for a Cardinals winner.
The Cardinals are still 4.5 games out of the NL Central, but are still hopeful they will get on a hot streak going into the final month of the season. It will be interesting to see how much of a factor the Phamtastic Pham will be as the Cardinals continue their postseason push.
