If you are anything like me, you started thinking about Fantasy Football the minute your final team either won it all…or fell to defeat. In my case I had to wait a bit longer than most as I won all three of the leagues I was involved in. Now as a die-hard Cheesehead, I was bound to have more than my fair share of Packers sprinkled in on those Championship rosters. With the likes of: (QB) Aaron Rodgers, (WR) Jordy Nelson, and (WR) Davante Adams finishing Top 10 in points scored at their respective positions. Add in (RB/WR) Ty Montgomery, (WR) Randall Cobb who made impact throughout the season despite Injuries, Can you blame me for loading up?
Over the next few weeks I will break down Position by Position the best bet for fantasy success this upcoming season. But for now I will give you a general idea of who I think you should snag, and who you should let slide this season. Keep in mind, my rankings are just that..they are based on my (slightly biased) opinion.
(QB1) Aaron Rodgers- That’s right Rodgers in my Top rated QB this upcoming season, if you have read any of my recent work then you know my expectations for Aaron and this Green Bay Packer offense are justifiably lofty.
(WR5) Jordy Nelson- Year after year Jordy continues to prove why he is Aaron Rodgers Go-to-guy. Despite not being 100% for a large portion of last season he went on to lead the NFL in TD catches. Expect more of the same from #87 in 2017.
(WR6) Davante Adams- Coming off a big year in which the Fresno State product increased his Catch total from 50 in 2015 to 75 in 2016, and improved on his TD count from just 1 in 2015 to 12 (T-2nd in NFL) in 2016. Confidence is dripping off this guy, and I expect a MONSTER of a year out of him!
(RB22) Ty Montgomery- With a full off-season dedicated to working with the RB group I expect to see vast improvement in all facets of Monty’s game. A true threat in the passing game, results in big weeks in PPR leagues. Despite the threat of rookie (RB) Jamaal Williams taking a share of the work midway through the season I’m taking my chances with the versatile Montgomery in 2017.
(TE5)Martellus Bennett – Aaron Rodgers is a big factor in this ranking, look what he has done with the likes of Jared Cook, Richard Rodgers, Andrew Quarless, moderate success, and a few memorable moments but just lacking that consistent option at the position. Bennett provides that this year and while I don’t think he matches his numbers from 2014 in Chicago, no doubt he will have his share of Lambeau Leaps.
