It really hasn’t looked like the Charlotte Hornets have made that many moves this off-season, but really it’s been a pretty good off-season so far. I think the Hornets are doing their best to build around Kemba Walker.
They have traded for veteran center Dwight Howard. Dwight is a solid veteran that can help Kemba learn how to lead a team. Dwight has also had a lot of playoff experience. If they can make the playoffs this year I think they can go a little bit further than people may expect.
They got a steal in the draft when Malik Monk fell to them. Kemba was actually shocked that they were able to draft Monk at their spot. Malik is a good shooter that can hopefully adapt to the NBA three-point line. If Malik can do so to he will be a great asset for the Charlotte Hornets and may help them get to the playoffs.
The Hornets also signed a good backup point guard in Michael Carter-Williams. MCW in my opinion is a better upgrade compared to Ramon Sessions. MCW is like a young Shaun Livingston. He is a tall lengthy point guard, has a good mid-range jump shot and takes advantage of his size at the point guard position.
I think the Hornets are underdogs and they might surprise some people next season. They could possibly be a top 5 team in the weak Eastern Conference. So people should pay attention to them this coming season.
